A Message from the President

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year!  My name is Kristin Patterson and I am the new Pond Road Middle School PTA PresidentI am honored to work closely with a wonderful team on the Executive Committee (EC), and it is on behalf of them that I welcome you, new and returning families, to an exciting new school year at PRMS.  We look forward to a wonderful school year, filled with many events and activities.  With your support and dedicated volunteers, along with the talented teachers and staff at PRMS, we will guide our children through the exciting experience of middle school.

Sign up time has begun!  In the coming days we will be asking you to join us in membership to PRMS PTA.  As a member, there are many benefits, most importantly is the opportunity to become involved in helping to make decisions for your child, our school, and the activities that are provided by the PTA.  As a member, you can also receive email from the PTA, keeping you informed, and allowing us to be able to provide information to you as necessary throughout the school year.

Our PTA relies on its members in multiple ways to run the numerous activities scheduled throughout the year.  We need volunteers to run the activities, be we also ask our school families to donate through our primary fundraising campaign called the Write a Check campaign.  Our financial goal this year is to raise $11,000 with the Write A Check campaign so we can continue events such as 5th, 6th and 7th grade socials, 8th grade lunch, assemblies, Trunk or Treat, donations to class trips, the Reflections Program, contributions to the Student of the Month program, the Winter Fun Day and Field Day, Spiritwear for our students and teachers, donations to Homefront, and the fabulous new furniture in the entry way of the school.  We also raise funds through various other programs, including Book Fairs, Restaurant Socials, and Box Tops for Education. The Pond PTA is a not-for-profit organization, and therefore, 100% of funds raised are directed back to the students and the schools.

Last year, we successfully launched our online Student Directory through MySchoolAnywhere.  It was not only cost effective, it also made contact information available to you from anywhere.  We will be continuing in the same fashion this year.

  • If you were included in the directory last year, as a returning family you will receive an email with a link to confirm your child’s information.

  • If you are a NEW family to PRMS, or have not previously entered family information, please visit join.myschoolanywhere.com and enter code: “pondpta” to enter your information.

Your privacy is important to us, therefore only you will have access to your personal information which can be updated at any time.  Each family can decide what information gets published and you can opt out if you choose.

Please note: We are also sending a paper membership form home through your child’s backpack. You may choose to complete the paper form and return it to school with your child.  Once we receive your membership, you will be sent an email with directions on how to access to the online directory.  You only have to sign up once.  If you sign up online, you do not have to send in the paper membership form.

Please join us at our first meeting of the school year on Tuesday, September 13th at 6:15pm at Pond Road Middle School in the cafeteria. We are trying something new this year; holding our General Membership meetings in conjunction with other school events. This first meeting is at the beginning of the 5th/6th grade Back to School Night where current members in attendance will have the opportunity to vote on our 2016-17 budget.  We will also be in attendance on September 14th at the 7th//8th grade Back To School Night, however, we will not be voting at that time.  We hope to see you then!

For more information and to learn more about your PTA, we encourage you to browse our website.  Our monthly meeting schedule is posted on this site, as well as minutes from previous meetings.  You will also find copies of PTA forms that are sent home during the school year, as well as other helpful information posted throughout the year.  We are always available if you need us by emailing pondpta@gmail.com.

One last reminder: **Please be sure to turn in your Box Tops in the envelope that was sent home at the end of last year**

Wishing you a wonderful school year,

Kristin Patterson
